Areas we cover
Stagecraft Gardens works across the Suffolk-Essex border, shaping landscapes in the Stour Valley and Dedham Vale creating gardens that belong in their setting and designed to evolve over time.
Our work spans rural and country gardens, historic properties, riverside settings and urban spaces, from intimate planting schemes to larger gardens requiring a considered approach to design, planting and long-term development.
Our core area extends throughout South Suffolk and North Essex, including the Wool towns and villages and countryside surrounding Sudbury, Long Melford, Lavenham, Clare and Hadleigh, Boxford, Stoke-by-Nayland, Nayland, Bures, Dedham and East Bergholt, with projects further afield where the nature and scale of the garden make the journey worthwhile.
We work across the garden as a whole from design and planting through to plant sourcing, horticultural care and project direction bringing together creative thinking and practical horticultural knowledge.
Whether developing an established garden, creating a new landscape or simply rethinking how a garden is planted and experienced, we welcome enquiries from clients looking for a thoughtful, individual approach.
Projects further afield
While our studio is based in Sudbury, our work is not limited by postcode. We undertake selected design, planting and project-led work across Suffolk, Essex and further afield.
For projects outside our core area, we consider the nature, scale and requirements of the garden when determining how we can best work with you.
Read our FAQ’s for further information from our clients’ questions.
If you have a garden in mind, we'd be pleased to hear from you.

Getting Started
Introduction
Introductory Call
Video Consultation
Design Fee Proposal
Every successful garden begins with an understanding of the people who will enjoy it.
We begin with an introductory call to discuss your ideas, aspirations and the possibilities for your outdoor space.
Following this, we arrange a video consultation to explore your garden in more detail, introduce our approach to garden design and understand the scope of your project.
We then prepare a personalised design fee proposal, outlining the recommended services and the next steps towards creating your garden.
Working with us
Every garden is different, and our approach begins with understanding the site, your aspirations and how you want to use the space.
Our projects can range from focused planting schemes and garden consultations to complete garden design and larger, phased developments. We tailor our involvement to the needs of each project, from initial design through to plant sourcing, implementation and ongoing horticultural care.
Our working hours
